Ex-Head of State Gen. Yakubu Gowon (rtd), re-unites with son after 48 years

 Former Head of State, Gen. Yakubu Gowon (rtd.) has re-united with his son, Musa Gowon, after 48 years.

Reports say this has put to rest, decades of paternity squabble between Gowon and Musa’s late mother, Princess Edith Ike Okongwu.

Vanguard reports that Musa is a love child of the former Head of State and Ike-Okongwu, before the Biafra war.

According to reports, Musa was allegedly arrested for drug related offences and sentenced to jail for 40 years in 1992, when he was 23.

Gowon in statement, said “Following years of doubts and speculation, a DNA test was recently conducted to ascertain the paternity of Musa Gowon, who recently returned to the country.

”The results of the tests were conclusive, and they confirm his paternity. We, the family, are working to assist in his rehabilitation following a very difficult period in his life.

”As we look forward to the future with faith in God, we request that our privacy be respected.”

President Obama granted Musa pardon and he was let out on grounds of good behaviour.

According to Dailystar:Sharon Edwards, who has a history of violence towards her partners, killed her 51-year-old hubby David two months after their Las Vegas wedding in June 2015.

She was sentenced to life imprisonment and told that it would be 20 years before the parole board could consider her for release.

A jury rejected her claim that Mr Edwards, a respected defence solicitor, had walked into a kitchen knife which she had taken off him during a row in August last year.

She claimed that the couple then went to bed where she performed a s*x act on him before leaving him to sleep.

Edwards said she found him dead in bed seven hours later. The jury was told that Mr Edwards had died from internal bleeding about four hours after being stabbed.

Tunde also added that” If you are unfortunate not to have a wife who wants to encourage you, you can have a hundred million and say I’m not spending a kobo of this. We are going to continue to live like paupers because I want to do this and she’ll be like fine, and without that peace of mind, of knowing that I was putting things in place for our future, I couldn’t have ever achieved it.’’
